Questions about working with us, and our 3-year warranty

Can’t find your question? Call (830) 555-0147 and you’ll talk to someone who designs or builds our projects.

The 3-year warranty

What does the 3-year warranty cover?

Three things, for three years from the date of your final walkthrough: every plant we install, our workmanship on hardscape, structures, irrigation and drainage, and the lighting fixtures, lamps and connections we install. You get the terms in writing with your proposal and again at the walkthrough.

What happens if a plant dies?

Call or email us. If the irrigation was running to the schedule we left you, we replace the plant with the same species and size, free, usually within two weeks or at the next good planting window if it's mid-summer. You don't need to keep receipts; we keep the plant list.

What isn't covered?

Deer and other animal damage, freezes colder than the plant's rated hardiness, hail and named storms, plants removed or moved by someone else, damage from mowers, edgers or other contractors, and anything that died after the irrigation was turned off or reprogrammed away from our schedule. Normal weathering of wood, like graying and checking, isn't a defect.

Does the warranty transfer if I sell my house?

Yes. The remaining warranty transfers to the new owner. Send us their contact details and we'll send them a copy of the terms and the plant list.

What about repairs to systems you didn't install?

Repairs we make to irrigation or lighting systems installed by others carry a one-year workmanship warranty on the repair itself. Systems we installed are covered by the full 3-year warranty.

Pricing and payment

What is a fixed-price proposal?

An itemized price for your project, line by line, covering everything in the proposal's scope. The site walk includes probing for rock and checking the soil, so the price reflects your ground. If anything outside that scope comes up, we quote it in writing before work proceeds. You get the proposal with a scaled plan and 3D render before you pay any deposit.

How do payments work?

Typically 30% to schedule your build, 40% at a midpoint named in the contract, and 30% after the final walkthrough. Design fees are paid at the start of design and credited in full against your build if you sign within 12 months.

Do you finance projects?

We don't finance directly. Many clients build in phases instead, with each phase priced and fixed on its own, so drainage and utilities for later phases go in first.

Is the site walk really free?

Yes. It's 45 minutes on your property with a designer, and there's no obligation. You'll usually leave with a rough budget range for what you're considering.

Timelines, HOAs and permits

How long does a typical project take?

Design takes two to three weeks. Most builds take one to nine weeks on site depending on scope: a planting job can be done in days, a backyard with walls, a cover and a kitchen in two months. HOA review and permits can add two to four weeks, and we schedule around both.

Will you handle my HOA approval?

Yes. We prepare the drawings, plant lists and material samples your architectural committee needs and submit them for you. We've had plans approved in Fair Oaks Ranch, Stone Oak, Kissing Tree, Veramendi and Cordillera Ranch.

Which projects need permits?

Roofed patio covers, decks more than 30 inches off the ground, retaining walls over 4 feet measured from the bottom of the footing, and new gas, electrical or plumbing usually do. Most patios and plantings don't. We pull permits, schedule inspections and include the fees in your price.

Do I need to be home during the build?

No. Many clients work during the day. We need access to the yard, water and power, and dogs kept inside or in a run while crews are on site. Your project lead sends a photo update every Friday.

Plants and water

Why native plants?

Because they survive here. At least 70% of every planting plan is Texas native or proven-adapted species chosen for Edwards Plateau soil, deer pressure and long summers. They need far less water once established, and they're the reason we can offer a 3-year plant warranty.

Will my yard survive watering restrictions?

That's what we design for. Beds run on drip, which most utilities allow more often than sprinklers, and lawns are limited to the spots where they earn their water. We set your controller to your city's current drought stage at walkthrough.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance?

Not yet. We install and warranty. We can recommend local maintenance crews who know native plants, and we plan to add a Landscape Care service for clients whose yards we built.
