Landscape lighting in San Antonio and the Hill Country

Most Hill Country evenings from October to May are too good to spend indoors, and lighting is what lets you use the yard after 7 p.m. It's also how your home looks from the street for half of every day. Good lighting shows the shape of the trees and the texture of the stone. Bad lighting floods the yard, glares in your eyes and lights the neighbor's bedroom.

What's included

What you get with landscape lighting

We design lighting at night, on site. Caleb Wendt, our lighting designer, walks the property after dark with portable fixtures to test angles and brightness before anything is drawn. Then we install low-voltage LED systems with solid brass and copper fixtures, direct-burial wire, sealed connections and a transformer with an astronomical timer.

  • Night design visit with test fixtures on your actual trees and walls
  • Solid brass or copper fixtures with warm 2700K LEDs
  • Stainless or multi-tap transformer sized with room to add fixtures
  • Astronomical timer or app control that follows sunset
  • Sealed, gel-filled connections and wire buried below mulch and turf
  • A 3-year fixture and workmanship warranty

What it costs

What landscape lighting costs

Lighting is priced mostly by fixture count. Each fixture includes the fixture, lamp, wire run, connection and installation. The transformer and controls are priced once per system. Our fixtures are solid brass or copper, which costs more than aluminum but doesn't corrode in Texas sprinklers and sun.

Most systems we install have 20 to 50 fixtures. Your proposal lists every fixture by location and type, and the night render in your 3D design shows what each one does.

Typical installed ranges, 2026
Typical system, 20–50 fixtures$6,500–$22,000
Path or step light, installed$300–$450 each
Tree uplight, installed$350–$600 each
Transformer with timer$900–$1,800
Repair diagnostic visit$175 (credited to the repair)

Less light, better placed

The goal isn't brightness. It's contrast: a lit live oak canopy against a dark sky, a soft wash on a limestone wall, pools of light on a path. We use warm 2700K light, shield fixtures so you see the glow and not the bulb, and keep light pointed down and away from neighbors and the night sky. Several Hill Country communities have adopted dark-sky lighting guidance, and our designs follow it.

How it works

How a landscape lighting project runs

  1. Step 1: Day site walk

We note what matters: entries, steps, trees, stone walls, the view from the street and the view from your back windows.

  2. Step 2: Night design visit

We return after dark with test fixtures, light your real trees and walls, and adjust angles until it looks right to you.

  3. Step 3: Plan and fixed price

You get a fixture plan, a night render and an itemized price by fixture. Changes cost nothing at this stage.

  4. Step 4: Install and aim at night

We install during the day, then come back at dusk to aim every fixture and set the timer. The 3-year warranty starts that night.

Questions

Landscape Lighting questions

How much does landscape lighting cost to run?

Very little. A 30-fixture LED system draws roughly 100 to 150 watts, about as much as a couple of old incandescent bulbs. Running six hours a night costs a few dollars a month.

Can I add fixtures later?

Yes. We size transformers with spare capacity and leave wire loops at likely future spots, so adding fixtures later is simple.

Do you install solar lights?

No. Solar path lights are dim, uneven and short-lived in shade. Low-voltage wired LED gives consistent light for years with almost no maintenance.

What does the 3-year fixture warranty cover?

Fixtures, lamps, connections and our workmanship for three years. If a fixture fails or a connection corrodes, we fix it. Damage from mowers, edgers and other contractors isn't covered.
